Details: Starting in the late 1960’s, Royal Leerdam was contracted to accurately reproduce 18th-century glassware for the Colonial Williamsburg Restoration project by analyzing and replicating original fragments found at the Williamsburg site. The reproductions were so authentic they were often indistinguishable from the originals. Royal Leerdam stopped producing the glass reproductions for Colonial Williamsburg in the late 1980’s and in turn, these hurricane shades were discontinued altogether. They are no longer sold by the shops at Colonial Williamsburg.
